A brightly decorated rural semi detached cottage a mile from Holy Island's tidal Causeway. Tide times permitting, tread in St Cuthbert's footsteps and follow the last stages of the Long Distance Footpath across to the Island. Sample the unique blend of island life with visits to the Priory, The National Trust's Castle with Gertrude Jekyll Gardens, Lindisfarne Heritage Centre, The Winery and of course in season the local maize maze and fresh produce stalls, or just enjoy the miles of golden beaches, spot the local birdlife and listen out for the eerie seal calls around the coast. On the way back, stop off at the newly completed Barn at Beal, a coffee shop and restaurant with visitor centre, gift shop, marked trails and educational activities or just enjoy the spectacular views. Located next to the railway line at Beal, Cuthbert's Cottage has easy access from the A1 and is about half a mile from the local pub/restaurant and petrol station. Twenty minutes drive away are the spectacular beaches, Bamburgh Castle and village of Bamburgh with views out to The National Trust's Bird Sanctuary The Farne Islands why not take a trip out to see the islands from Seahouses Harbour or even charter a boat to drop you back at Holy Island. |
